Traffic Management By-Laws
Jim Zingarelli provided Bowling Green, Kentucky's Traffic Access Management document as well as abstracts from other municipalities for the Committee's review. The committee members are to propose ideas for long-term traffic access management by-laws. With this come some comments:
• The T&C Committee should become stronger than an advisory committee.
• The Planning and Zoning Boards should come to T&C for input.
• All parties need to work on a comprehensive plan for Main Street's future.
• Mass Highway would have to be involved, too.
From the input the Master Plan Committee has received, the Main Street traffic is on the forefront of people's minds. The T&C Committee must sell the need for the Traffic Access Management plan, referencing the Master Plan's conclusions.
Other
Steve Mentzer informed the Committee that the Master Plan is going to final review on 2/24. Thereafter, it will be voted on by the Master Plan Steering Committee and then proceed to the Planning Board.
It was noted that between 20,000 and 27,000 vehicles travel Main Street each day.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm
